between the eco-conscious attitude and behavior. The perceptions may give an
insight into why this gap exists. Several studies have been reported in India
but in a fragmented manner barring a few. This study is an attempt to catch the
perceptions towards some of the important sustainable behavior activities &
purchases. The study was carried out for 110 respondents from various geo
clusters of Nashik which is Tier II city from Maharashtra State of India. The
results reveal that respondents consider sustainable behavior as important and
not requiring much of efforts. But in case of Green Products they consider these
products as quite known, very costly, unavailable, etc.

Vol. 3(1): pp 40-48 (2013)
Abstract:
Despite a brief period of lull from late 1980s to early 1990s in the labor
unrest in India, the last few years have seen unprecedented growth in it, with
some cases even leading to the death of people. The growing incidence of labor
unrest is indicative of the fact that all is not well with the Indian
organizations. The present paper is aimed at exploring the possible causes of
the major labour unrest in the past three years (2008-2011). The paper is also
aimed at critically analyzing the main assumptions of HRM vis-à-vis these labour
unrests.
Secondary data resources such as print media, internet, electronics media etc.
have been used in this paper. Some of the causes of the unrests were-rigid and
archaic laws, inequity in wages, lack of trust, crisis of leadership etc. Most
of the assumptions of HRM such as congruence, commitment, collaboration, trust,
transformational leadership etc was found missing. Some were not even in sync
with the realities of contemporary organizations and people. Like many critics
of HRM, we too found the presence of the hard variant of HRM and HRM assumptions
were appeared to be more “rhetoric” than reality.

A
Short Profile of Ethics in Social-Cultural Anthropology
Ashok Das Gupta
Research Scholar, Department of Anthropology, University of
North Bengal, Siliguri, Darjeeling District, West Bengal- 734013, India.
Vol. 3(1): pp
55-64 (2013)
Abstract:
Social-cultural anthropology is exclusive to Indian anthropology as India is a
diverse country by means of everything and at the same time holds the notion of
Unity in Diversity. It will account both social issues and cultural aspects as
well. Initiating from mode of production in a specific ecosystem,
anthropologists at micro-level tries to find out the division of labour and on
the basis of that social, economic, political, health, educational and religious
issues in different levels of historicity.
Many of those communities, social groups, societies, strata and social folds are
indigenous, close to nature, emphasizing on sustainable approaches and folk in
nature. Their tradition has often become symbolic and oral. They try to preserve
their grey literature in their book of culture; and that is why culture is so
important in Indian context. Culture may be the cause of identity, clash,
negotiation, and so forth. Many problems arise due to researcher-informant bias
and even informant-informant cultural value clash especially during
cross-cultural studies.
